Video editor & motion designer · Manila, GMT+8

I make your videos impossible to scroll past.

I'm Rafa Santos. I cut YouTube videos, Shorts, ads and wedding films for creators and brands in 14 countries. You send the chaos; I send back final_final_v3.mp4. (It's actually final.)

About Rafa, and the story of one video

I spent five years filming weddings in the rain before I worked out the magic happens later, in the edit. Now I cut for creators and brands in 14 countries, from a desk in Manila, with too much coffee.

Here's what happens to your footage, start to finish. Scroll slowly. Or fast. I'm an editor, not a cop.

01The dump02The cut

You send me everything. I keep the 58 seconds that matter.

Runtime 3:12:00 47 clips
"hiii so I filmed literally everything 😅 can u make it go viral?? no pressure lol"

this cut took 4 hours. worth it.

03The hook

Three seconds. That's the whole job.

Audience retention A typical upload drops below 40 percent of viewers within 30 seconds. Videos cut by Rafa keep about 72 percent at 30 seconds and stay above 55 percent until the end.

04The grade

Straight off the card, it looks like porridge.

A surfer carrying a board along the shore at sunset, shown as flat grey LOG footage on the left and colour-graded on the right.
  1. 00

    LOG, straight off the card

Flat and grey on purpose: the camera keeps every bit of the highlights and shadows so I have room to play.

  2. 01

    Colour space transform

Translate LOG into normal contrast. Now it looks like a phone video. Progress!

  3. 02

    Balance

Kill the green cast, set black and white points, match it to the other shots.

  4. 03

    The look

Warm highlights, teal shadows, a gentle S-curve. The feeling you remember, not the one the sensor saw.

  5. 04

    Film finish

Halation round the highlights, fine grain, a soft vignette. Now it's a film.

05Sound & captions

Half of editing is what you hear.

wait for it… this transition is honestly illegal 🔥

−14 LUFS ✓ (a loudness thing. platforms love it. trust me.)

  • whoosh 💨
  • *bass drop*
  • ding! 🔔
  • record scratch
  • crowd: "ooooh"

06Every platform

One edit. Every platform.

Reframed by hand, not by a robot: the action stays in the frame and the captions stay out of the way of the like button.

07Export & post

Same footage. Better edit.

  • @miko.films ok who edited this 😭
  • @jas the transition at 0:14??
  • @deyna watched it 6 times
  • @tito.travels teach me 🙏

1,000,000 views in 9 days. same footage.

Bonus level [00:00:38:16]

Bonus level: bend the curve.

Anyone can add two keyframes. Motion feels expensive when the spacing is right. Drag the handles and watch the onion skin: the gaps between ghosts are the speed.

Client notes [00:00:54:11]

Notes I didn't have to fix.

  • Mara O. travel creator @ 00:00:03

The hook at 0:03 made me rewatch my own video. Twice. My audience did too.

  • Luna V. musician @ 00:00:14

That whip pan into the drop should be illegal. Keep it. Keep everything.

  • Dev P. brand lead, Kapé Lab @ 00:01:02

Sent notes at 6 p.m., had the new cut before my morning coffee. The Manila time zone is a cheat code.

  • Ana & Migs wedding couple @ 00:03:40

My mum cried at the teaser. The teaser. We haven't even shown her the film yet.

FAQ [00:00:56:00]

Before you hit send.

What do you need from me?

The raw files (Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer is fine), one or two videos you love the style of, and your fonts and logo if you have them. A voice note explaining the vibe helps more than you'd think.

How fast is turnaround?

Short-form in 24 to 48 hours, YouTube videos in 3 to 5 days, wedding films in 3 to 4 weeks. Rush jobs are possible when the calendar allows.

How many revisions do I get?

Two rounds on every video. Extra rounds are $20 each, but honestly it rarely gets there.

Our time zones are miles apart. Is that a problem?

It's the best part. I'm on GMT+8, so I edit while the US and Europe sleep, and your new cut is waiting when you wake up. Australia gets same-day replies.

Do I get the project files?

On request, yes: Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve projects, plus the motion graphics templates I make for your channel.

How do I pay?

Wise, PayPal or bank transfer, invoiced in USD. New clients pay 50% up front; retainers are billed monthly.

Contact [00:00:58:00]

Send me your raw footage.

Tell me what it is and when you need it. I reply within a day, usually with questions and a rough plan.
